When you decide to start a Scentsy business there are a few things you need to know.  First, you will be called a "Scentsy Consultant" which is why you see this term used a lot by other people who have Scentsy businesses.  Basically, you're a Scentsy Rep, a Scentsy Distributor, or a Scentsy Dealer... same thing.  You are an independent consultant with Scentsy and not actually employed by Scentsy.  In simpler terms, you are signing up to be able to sell Scentsy products for a commission.

Signing Up With Scentsy

You can sign up with Scentsy for $99 plus tax and shipping charges and Scentsy will send you a Starter Kit.  The Scentsy Starter Kit will include some Scentsy products as well as business tools for you such as business cards, brochures, catalogs, and even a personalized website where customers can place orders.  This website is located on the Scentsy domain (you can view mine by clicking on the "shop online" links or by clicking here).   The website is free for 3 months when you sign up and only $10 a month after that if you want to continue to use it.  All of the items in the Scentsy Starter Kit are designed to help you learn about all of the Scentsy products and to become a successful consultant and be able to start selling Scentsy right away.

Pick the Best Scentsy Sponsor

The next step is very important if you really want to run a successful Scentsy business and make money.  When you sign up with Scentsy you are signed up with a sponsor.  If you sign up through my website, then I will be your Scentsy Sponsor and will help you have success as a Scentsy Consultant.  The sponsor is there to help you build your business.  Let me teach you about the business, how to talk to customers, and how to plan the months ahead, and how to make a plan for your Scentsy business that will work for you.  It's all free...so make sure you utilize me as your Scentsy sponsor as your best resource.

A good Scentsy Sponsor is much more important than I realized when I signed up.  I lucked out and love my sponsor, and love working with her, but that's not always the case for some.  Choose a sponsor who loves Scentsy and is proud of what they do and passionate about both the products and the business opportunity offered so they can help you.  There's no reason to do this on your own!  Find a Consultant who has been running a Scentsy business for awhile and who have been successful help you do the same.  There's so much to love about Scentsy and so much to learn from a great Scentsy sponsor!

How Do I Change Scentsy Sponsors?

I get asked how to switch a Scentsy Sponsor often, so I'll include this here too... if you sign up to sell Scentsy and you don't like your sponsor, you never hear from her, or you just don't work together well, it's really hard to switch.  Basically, you have to contact Scentsy to have your account cancelled, then go completely inactive (sell nothing) for 6 months more and re-enroll under a new Sponsor of your choice.  Definitely something to think about.

This meeting will be open to Ireland residents who want to learn more about Scentsy, our products, and becoming Scentsy Consultants. It will be held in Dublin from 6:00-9:00 p.m. local time, with a formal presentation from 7:00-8:00 p.m. local time.

The welcome meeting will provide potential recruits with all the information they'll need to make the decision to join Scentsy Ireland. It will give our existing Consultants a chance to have their friends, family, and contacts in Ireland learn about Scentsy's European product offerings and business opportunity in person. At the meeting, Scentsy home office team members will demonstrate Scentsy products, explain how the business opportunity works, and answer questions.

Tip - Every new Scentsy Consultant is given a free website (called a PWS, short for Personal Website) for 3 months! During the signup process you'll need to select a URL for your website so be thinking of that. The URL of your website will look like this - https://WhateverYouWant.scentsy.us - so the part in Italics is the part that you can customize. The ending - the .us - depends on what country you are in and so it will reflect that.

2. Set a Goal for Scentsational Start

Make a Goal To Earn Scentsational Start Level 3. 

One of the single greatest indicators of success as a Scentsy Consultant is earning Scentsational Start. The odds of being successful as a Scentsy Consultant increases dramatically if you get your hustle on and earn Scentsational Start in your first 70 days.

To earn Level 3 you'll need to sell 2,500 in PRV and help 6 new team members be active.

Here is a breakdown of the different Scentsational Start Levels.  A consultant can only earn Scentsational Start awards in their first 70 days. (BTW - "Active" means they've sold 200 PRV in one month)

In addition to the awesome start you'll give your business, you'll also:

    1. Receive $200 FREE Product Credit! So you'll be able to spend $200 on your favorite Scentsy products for FREE!
    2. A Certificate of Achievement
    3. A Lapel Pin
    4. Recognition at Scentsy Events
    5. A Scentsational Start paperweight
    6. You'll receive a permanent 5% pay raise so you'll earn 25% commission on every Scentsy product you sell for the rest of forever! And if you sell over 2,000 in PRV in one month you'll earn 30%!

3. Make Your Plan to Sell Scentsy

Book Parties or decide how you'll sell Scentsy products.

 No business can be done in a closet. You have to get out and share your business with everyone. You're an entrepreneur now so make a plan for how you can share your product and the opportunity with everyone!

Scentsy is Not a Pyramid Scheme

Often there is a misconception about Direct Sales, and people assume it's the same as a pyramid scheme.  A "pyramid" or "ponzi" scheme in a legal sense is a fraudulent arrangement where Consultants pay money to join, but there are no actual sales or products to buy.  The compensation of pyramid schemes is driven solely by the cost of recruits to sign up.

Direct sales companies are not pyramid schemes. Direct sales companies use a distribution model that is different than a traditional corporation; however, it is still completely legal and valid.  In Scentsy (or Amway, Nuskin or any other direct sales company), every dollar sold is distributed between sales consultants (commission), upline (in form of upline commission) and corporate. While the model is different from a traditional corporation, it is completely legal and is just a different method of distributing profits.  So, is Scentsy a pyramid scheme?  Absolutely not.

I love being a Scentsy Consultant.  It is such a unique company with a wonderful product, that is truly changing lives all around.  No, Scentsy is definitely not a scam.  There is no catch or fine print.  In my 3 1/2 years as a Scentsy Consultant, I have never seen anything that would make me quit or doubt the company in the least bit.  It's actually quite the opposite; I'm hooked!  Scentsy will be an amazing part of the rest of my life.  I know you'll love it and hope you'll join Scentsy with me.  With such a unique, amazing company, you can't help but follow in its footsteps and with a little effort, be successful with Scentsy too.

Should I Sell Scentsy?

I've recruited hundreds of people to join my Scentsy team and in every case, as they are considering becoming a Scentsy Consultant, they want to know what my favorite benefits are of being a Scentsy Consultant. Over the years that I've been a Scentsy Consultant, I think my favorite benefit has changed but here are some of my top favorite benefits of selling Scentsy and being a Scentsy Consultant.

Reason #1 - Free Travel! 

Since I began selling Scentsy as a Scentsy Consultant, I've gone on countless trips with Scentsy! There is no better way to travel than with Scentsy! They take care of all the details and always do the fun things that I would never pay to do on my own if I took a trip to the same place! For example, my husband and I earned an all-expense paid trip to New York City a few years ago and the trip included an amazing dinner cruise on the Hudson with all the other earners and it was just fantastic to see New York City at night and the Statue of Liberty. I've earned several free trips to Cancun, an all-expense paid trip to Greece that included 2 nights on the island of Mykonos (this trip was for the top 100 point earners in the entire company!), Nashville, the Dominican Republic, several amazing cruises and more.

The first Incentive Trip I earned was an all-expense trip to the Dominican Republic at the amazing Hard Cafe Resort. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean with a hot tub and a balcony with a hammock! The resort was MUCH bigger than I imagined with a mini-golf course, archery, basketball (for the hubs), a great gym, amazing indoor shopping, fantastic shows and performances, and the best restaurants - and again everything was paid for so we could eat for free at any of the restaurants on the resort! It was an awesome first trip and it was fun to spend some relaxing time with my husband and get to party with other fantastic Scentsy Consultants!

Reason #2 

When I began selling Scentsy as a Consultant in 2008 my motivation was almost entirely the extra income. My husband and I had started several new businesses and were still growing them so we were short on funds. My Scentsy business started out as a way to help cover the phone bill or help buy clothing for our ever-growing kids! Over time, my income as a Scentsy Consultant was able to cover the mortgage, in addition to the phone bill and clothing for our kids. Eventually, it took our kids on trips to Disneyland and other fun family trips, helped set aside for a rainy day, purchase a new home, and pay off cars, in addition to the phone bill, mortgage and clothes! Today, as we've grown our team and helped Consultants in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and all over the USA, grow their businesses, our Scentsy income covers all of our living expenses and continues to grow.

When I began selling Scentsy as a Scentsy Consultant I had high hopes but didn't really know if it would work - I didn't know if I was the right kind of person (they say you have to "sales-y" - not so) or if I was too late and all the opportunity was gone, or if I would be able to help my new Consultants have the success they envisioned. Scentsy Consultants have a very collaborative culture so that along with my own efforts and some trial and error, I've been able to grow my team and take care of my customers to grow my income as a Scentsy Consultant. I know that if I can have the success I've had that you can have the same success, if you really want it and are willing to put in some work. I think you'd be surprised what Scentsy can do for you and your family.

We have several friends that have hit the road traveling the world as Scentsy Consultants and are still able to make it work and grow their business. Developing a Scentsy team as a Scentsy Consultant and developing leaders will help you really see the vision of the type of flexibility you can enjoy. It starts out meaning you don't have to worry about a commute, or running your cute kids to daycare, or rushing kids to doctor or dentist appointments and can truly become working from home, wherever you want that to be!

It also means you can avoid the morning rush at the gym, and exercise whenever you want - or just skip the whole thing altogether! 🙂 On top of that, you can wear whatever you want! Selling Scentsy as a Scentsy Consultant allows you to work from home if you aren't employed and means that you can work after hours at home parties, fundraisers, basket parties, online parties or etc to make some extra money! Forego the second job and work from home as a Scentsy Consultant! As a mother of 5 being able to work from home is a fantastic benefit! It sure makes my life less hectic since I don't need to run out and rush off to work.

I really felt like I wanted to be home with my little kids as they were growing up so I made that a priority for me and loved it! I was able to read stories and play games with my littles and then find a time to do Scentsy during nap times or in the evenings. My children don't seem to stop growing ( I know right!?) so it's been really nice to have been home with them as they were growing up and now when they come home from school and I can help with homework or talk about their day at school. Being a Scentsy Consultant has allowed me the flexibility to work out of my house and enjoy the growing-up years of our little kiddos.

Not only does Scentsy have an amazing compensation plan that pays well, but Scentsy also offers amazing new awards and recognition for it's top performers and brand new Consultants. Reason #5 - Amazing Friends!

This is one of my absolute favorite things about being a Scentsy Consultant - I've made a lot of amazing people and made some amazing friends! This is also probably the one thing that came as the biggest surprise to me. For whatever reason it never donned on me that as I earned free trips and grew a team of Scentsy Consultants that we would become such good friends and enjoy getting together! As a result of earning free trips, I've been able to meet so many people and have limitless crepes with them in Cancun or tour the wonders of the world like Chichen Itza and the Acropolis in Greece! Not only have we made great friends in the USA but since Scentsy is a boundary-less organization (I can recruit in any part of the world I'd like! Another amazing benefit!) I have friends from all over the world and get to travel to support my team!

It is so fun encounter so many different perspectives and ways of living and share common bonds and struggles. The friends I have made as a result of being a Scentsy Consultant are some of my absolute favorite. Very often, many of them are in the same stage of life as myself who joined for the same reason I did and now we can cheer each other on and be excited for each others successes! Beyond the free travel, income, and getting to spend more time with my family; making so many good friends has been an amazing and surprising benefit to being a Scentsy Consultant.

Why Should I Sell Scentsy?

In summary, I think about why I sell Scentsy a lot.  It helps me know what to say to people when they ask me that question.  As a mom of 5 kids I love that I can sell Scentsy and stay home with my kids.  I derive a lot of personal satisfaction knowing that I am building a sustainable business.  I don't have to worry about finances now, and don't wonder what I would do if something were to happen to my husband and I'd have to be the sole supporter of my family.  It is important that I am able to do this and not miss a moment with my kiddies, because I know these years will fly by.

Scentsy Corporate employees held Welcome Meetings in UK and Germany, and were met with a lot of excitement and energy to open up Scentsy in Europe.  The  Scentsy Europe launch meetings are finished, but you can contact me today to learn more about what you need to do to sign up and be one of the first ever Scentsy Consultants in Europe.  Scentsy Corporate held a series of informational meetings throughout the United Kingdom and Germany for those interested in selling Scentsy in Europe during April 6-9, 2011.  Meetings were held in the following cities:

My Scentsy Story

My Scentsy Story Continues

As 2010 draws to a close and I reflect on the year, I can't help but realize that many of the great memories and blessings of this year include Scentsy.  I'm coming up on my third year as a Scentsy Consultant and it's crazy to look back and think that I had no idea how it was all going to end up when I joined.  Scentsy is so fulfilling emotionally as well as financially.  As a stay-at-home mom, I love knowing that I don't have to start all over every day.  I start all over every day with the dishes, the cleaning, the cooking, etc. with nothing really to show what I did yesterday.  With building my Scentsy business, I get to work with great women and men and help them succeed and build their business and watch my own business grow.  I have made some dear friends for life and love working with my team.  My decision to join Scentsy was purely financial at the time, however.  We were in some tough times financially with the economy taking a turn for the worst, and I either needed to head to work or find a work-at-home job opportunity.  I had just given birth to our third child and really didn't want to go to work and have to leave my kids.  My mom actually suggested I join Scensty and told me she thought I'd be good at it.  When Mom tells you to do something, you listen!  So when approached about joining Scentsy, I looked more closely than I might have otherwise.  Obviously I made the decision to join Scentsy and haven't looked back since.  It has been such a blessing in our lives and I am so glad I joined such a great company.

I joined Scentsy in February and the Christmas prior to that was a tough one.  I figured that if I had $100, I could make a decent Christmas for our family.  The three kids were little (now we have 4), so I could make it stretch, but I didn't have any extra money to spare.  I love to make homemade candies and chocolates, so I made a bunch and went out selling them door-to-door in my neighborhood until I had $100!  I went to Good Will and found used toys and books and brought them home and cleaned them up for my kids.  I found a Barbie Hot Wheels toy on craigslist and bought it for my 2-year-old, and ordered new stickers so it looked brand new.  We had a wonderful Christmas that year and the kids didn't know the difference, but ever since I started a Scentsy business, I haven't had to worry about Christmas.  It's such a horrible feeling to think your kids might not get much of anything for Christmas, or worse - that you won't be able to pay the bill once it comes after Christmas!  The decision to join Scentsy was the best decision I could have made and I have loved how it has worked for our family.  If your Christmas was a little stressful this year and money was tight, come join Scensty and I'll help you make sure it's easier next year!
